CLACK-A-THON!

Six Typists, Six Typewriters, One World Championship Cup.

When: April 17th, 9-11p.m. Gallery night, immediately after new Pfister artist Todd Mrozinski’s inaugural residency show which runs from 5-9p.m.

Where: Pfister Hotel’s Rouge Ballroom, 424 E. Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee.

Admission: Free and open to the public

Six hot-shot writers will take on-the-spot audience requests for love letters, insults, and letters from pets in a teeth clenched, knuckles bared two-hour performance on real manual typewriters, organized and hosted by Pfister Narrator, Anja Notanja Sieger. Live music by John Sieger! During the 15-minute intermission watch resident artist Todd Mrozinski trace the shadows of the clack-a-thon players! At the end of the evening one talented clackist will walk away with the championship cup, but who will the audience decide it to be?

“This half improvised literary performance explores how live audience pressure and personal customization affects the creation of a written masterpiece.  The CLACK-A-THON asks, ‘What is the relevance of athletic championship in the literary world? Is it true that in any gathering of writers only one can be elevated to creative genius?’

In this patriarchal, sports-obsessed society, is a real-time competition the only way we’ll get the American public to appreciate the living poet as a hero?  Perhaps by donning capes, forming teams, trading cards, and bringing our composition-writing process into the arena of public scrutiny, maybe, just maybe, the poet will reign superior.  Perhaps chapbooks and t-shirts will be autographed.  Perhaps the avant-garde will clack through the ballroom of tradition.”  -Anja Notanja Sieger, organizer and current Pfister Narrator.

Anja Notanja Sieger is the founder of “La Prosette,” a one-woman typewriter performance writing service and currently serves as resident Narrator for the Pfister Hotel through the end of April 2015.
